Aligarh Movement

  • Due to the active participation of Muslims in the Revolt of 1857, their suppression by the government caused the situation of the Muslims to become disoriented. It was at this time that Sir Saiyyed Ahmed Khan (1817- 98 AD) made his debut.
  • The movement led by Sir Saiyyed Ahmed Khan is called Aligarh Movement.
